The South Mills River is close to Asheville and Hendersonville. Wild Rainbow, Brown Trout are found in this area. Because it is a wild trout river, when you want to fish, you need to know about the limitations on lures.

The Nantahala River is a popular place for Trout fishing. Especially in the lower sections, it has a healthy population of Rainbow and Brown Trout.

Rainbow Trout are smaller than other places, and wild Brown Trout can be hooked upwards to 20 inches. Anglers even can catch a native Appalachian Brook Trout in the upper section of Toe River.
